Helen Kirkbright is not only one of the best people i know, she's also a ridiculously talented photographer.

Helen and I have travelled a lot together, and i've been lucky enough to have my photo taken loads of times on trips, which makes my holiday snaps the envy of friends, because they always make wherever we are look especially cool.

We recently went to NY together, where she had the opportunity to meet and snap some pretty fantastical Americans.

Unfortunately I couldn't make the L.A leg of her journey but here are some of the pictures of her trip that she has developed so far on her film camera.

I can only imagine the reaction of people in L.A to her funny little Northerner ways.

Mclean Stephenson

Some achingly beautiful images from a dear friend who takes photos under the name Mclean Stephenson. His haunting photos always provoke me to look at the world in weird and wonderful ways. Sometimes they make me feel suffocated with nostalgia, and other times they make me view things in a beautifully raw and honest way. He manages to perfect feelings of dark and light in the same image.

The last picture in the series is of Tim Rogers another magical friend who plays music under the name of Jack Ladder. Check out his single from his latest album Hurstville. Beauty x

Born and based in Paris, France, Onra (or Arnaud Bernaud, as he is less well-known) first appeared on his producer friend Quetzal’s 2006 collab-album Tribute. Since then the Red Bull Music Academy attendee has had the internet buzzing over several releases which see the producer skilfully manoeuvre through a myriad of influences. His ‘Chinoiseries 2’ album, set to drop in November on All City, is being waited upon with bated breath and it’s not hard to see why – Onra’s keen engagement with the a la mode of current beat music set to the backdrop of the rhythms and dynamism of hip hop has been, and no doubt will again be a surefire winner. Fans of Mala’s Deep Medi label will be familiar with Silkie’s trademark ‘purple’ sound, which demonstrated the funky, twisted side of Dubstep, House and Boogie on this year’s ‘City Limits 2,’ whereas this year, Jon Convex stepped out of his famed Instra:mental duo to present two singles on Martyn’s 3024 label that took on a Techier edge to his usual minimal Drum n Bass output as part of the duo behind Fabriclive 50 and the famed Autonomic podcasts with D:Bridge.

Enjoying Grey Skies

Even a dreary Sydney sky didn’t stop the thousands of Parklife party-goers from showing up at Moore Park on Sunday for the indie-electro music festival – plastic poncho optional. Rain, hail or shine, if there’s good music and alcohol involved, there’s always a fun time to be had. With a line-up including Diplo, Santigold, MSTRKRFT, Digitalism, SebastiAn, Lykke Li, The Streets, Sebastian Tellier, Death From Above 1979, and many more, we sent our photographer out into the mud to capture the well-clad Parklife punters who manged to look exceptionally good despite the rain. This is not your typical festival photography.

Rittenhouse x Gemma Smith

Gemma Smith is an Australian artist whose modus operandi takes on a spellbinding sequence of acrylic paints with a centrifugal discourse.

The marvelous and relative entangled swirls have been realised for Sydney based clothing label Rittenhouse. The two brand directors Sally McDonald and Micah Hamdorf have had long standing relationships with contemporary artists who work in diverse mediums and are bounded by their creativity in a seamless way. 

”We wanted to work closely with Gemma as she is one of our favourite local artists”, Sally McDonald explains at the brand’s studio and office in Sydney’s own downtown rag district in Surry Hills. She continues by saying, “In this specific print [devoré skirt] she just kept making more and more prints until she liked one that was perfect.”

The semblance of Gemma Smith’s handscribed signatures in her canvassed works become like foliage whereby the transculency of the printed devoré fabric masks and reveals the delicate skin of Rittenhouse’s female wearer.
